One vintage Bear Archery Kodiak recurve circe 1955-56.
RH and LH, 48#, 60", Serial# CK946.
Dual shelf maple riser. A lot of wear on RH leather plate-shelf. None on LH side. Leather grip in decent condition. The brown paint above the grip is chipped in areas.
Dark brown facing and backing glass. White\black glass tip overlays. I'm starting to think that these should be reglued if the bow will be used alot.
The bow is almost completely covered with old hard (these words don't always go together) painted masking tape. I was lucky finding the inscription and hit oil my first attempt.
Note: this bow was also offered in factory camo, but that costs money. Unlike masking tape. For those of you who are into custom car colors. you can see it's a lot cheaper to just use tape.
The condition underneath is unknown. Looks like it has been quite a protective coating, but the years might leach the adhesive into the finish. In any event, this is a workingman of the past's hunting buddy. When there wasn't a hunter behind every tree. Also when there wasn't a deer for miles. Keep as is or strip it.
