1855 Pennsylvania Court Writ & Sheriff’s Return – Becker & Dell vs. Benjamin Cole, Lycoming County

 Approximately 11" by 5.5"

Original 1855 judicial writ from the Court of Common Pleas of Lycoming County, Pennsylvania, commanding the sheriff to collect a debt of $146.17 owed by Benjamin Cole to plaintiffs Becker & Dell. Issued under the authority of President Judge Alexander Jordan, this fi fa (fieri facias) instructs the sheriff to levy on Cole’s goods, lands, and tenements to satisfy the judgment. The reverse side includes handwritten docketing and a detailed sheriff’s return noting the execution of the writ on real estate, and legal fees. A fine example of mid-19th century Pennsylvania legal and debt recovery procedures.

Ideal for collectors of antique legal documents, Lycoming County history, or early American jurisprudence.
