Ignition Ballast Resistor 1953-1978 Mopar Models

Chrysler, Dodge, Plymouth

Replacement Ballast Resistor for 1953-1978 Mopar models.

The ballast resistor works in conjunction with the ignition coil. During low speed operation, the ballast resistor heats up. The increase in temperature causes an increase in resistance in the ignition system. At high speed operation, the resistor cools off, resulting in less resistance in the ignition system. When the starter is used, the resistor is bypassed, allowing full power to flow to the ignition primary circuit.
