W.R. Case & Sons, Case XX, 6468 SS, Small Congress Pocket Worn Antique Peach Seed Jigged Bone, 3", NEW, Vintage 2003.
NOTE: This is not a commemorative or special corporate run, it is straight from Case with the only engraving being the oval emblem, "Case XX" with the long-tail "C". See pics of stamping on the Back Right Spear blade tang for the "USA_6468_ SS", and the Front Right Sheepsfoot blade tang for the Xs and 2 dots, for 2003, same as the box.
No tarnish, rust, pits, spider webs, handle gaps, or cracked/chipped handles. The understated Brown and Dark Ivory colored handles display the Pocket Worn look/feel so well. Case has always had a way of making polished handles look like natural luster.
Pictures are of the actual knife the winning bidder will receive. This is a quality knife in all respects, more like a precision instrument in that smaller Congress frame.
The blades are sharp right out of the box, and the four blades crammed into a Congress model can be a little tricky to open with a fingernail, but easier in this smaller frame. Definite half-stops. Smooth, straight nail picks, the longer version. The blades are tight but still SNAP! on the close.
W. R. Case & Sons Cutlery, a true American brand, made quality knives, especially pocketknives, for over 100 years.
This flawless Small Congress would look good in a collection, but serve well if'n you wanna press it into use. As Gus told Woodrow, "It's not dyin' I'm talkin' about, it's LIVIN' !" Pocket knives were made to be used.
