Aquarium Fish Tank Terrarium Aquascape Manzanita Root Trunk Granite Base
This manzanita was sourced from Northern California. I have attempted to represent the exact color as best as possible including outdoor photos to highlight how the wood's color appears under different lighting.
After collecting the
manzanita, they are cut and trimmed as needed. They are then thoroughly washed
using a high pressure washer to remove as much bark, dirt, rocks and any loose
material as possible leaving, for the most part, solid wood surfaces leaving a
natural and unique shape of the manzanita. This is a very dense wood and slow
decay.
Elevate your aquascape or terrarium with this natural Manzanita Root. Long-lasting durability that will transform your habitat into a natural masterpiece.
Root size is approx. 10" x 17" x 6"
The root ball had a minimum of 5 years to air dry.
- Low tannins: It releases a minimal amount of tannins, which stain the water brown. Pre-soaking or boiling can reduce this effect even further.
- Dense and long-lasting: As a very dense hardwood, manzanita resists rotting and will last for many years in an aquarium.
- Chemically neutral: It does not alter the water's pH or chemistry, making it a safe choice for most freshwater environments.
- Natural aesthetics: Provide a natural, artistic look and offer hiding spots for fish, shrimp, and other inhabitants.
- Biological benefits: It provides surface area for beneficial biofilms to grow, which serves as a food source for shrimp and other microfauna.
- Check for proper prep before adding to tank ( salt and fresh)
