If you're an uncompromising collector of antique technology, make sure to check out all my listings after you look at this one. I don't think you'll find a better, broader or more balanced assortment of technical antiques anywhere -- hundreds of listings each year, almost all of them featuring eye-popping "gee whiz" gadgetry in exceptional original condition. And don't forget, you can click this link to quickly add and then save me to your favorite seller list and Ebay will automatically send you updates when I put similar new listings online.

Here's a beautiful ca. 1904 Edison Standard cylinder phonograph with an original 14" brass and black Edison "witch's hat" horn, an early Edison black wax cylinder, an original Edison shaver mounted on the underside of the carriage, and a pair of original "lollypop" style crane holders mounted on the back side of the cabinet. The phonograph is in excellent working order, and it needs nothing to be enjoyed immediately.

Condition is excellent, and the phonograph has no replica parts. Japanned finish on the phonograph's bedplate is still deep black and glossy, and the gold decorations are clean and original.

The motor is in excellent condition, and the governor assembly is working properly; the pitch is steady as a cylinder plays through. All of the gearing beneath the bedplate is clean, and none of it is damaged.

The Edison banner cabinet decal is crisp, clean and wholly original. The cabinet finish is likewise original. The wood has been beautifully preserved, and the prized "green oak" finish is smooth to the touch.

The 2-minute Model C reproducer sounds great. Loud and clear, with a good stylus.

The 14" Edison brass and black
horn is original, and its condition is excellent. Scattered nicks in the enamel consistent with age and authenticity, but no dents or damage.

The crane holders on the back of the cabinet are clean and original, with no rust or even any significant tarnish. They can accommodate almost any period crane if you wish to set the phonograph up with a larger horn.

If you get tired of listening to the black wax cylinder that's included, there are plenty of other titles available on ebay and elsewhere.

Overall, a super nice cylinder phonograph that's ready to go and requires no restoration or servicing.

I'm one of ebay's best known, most highly regarded sellers of antique phonographs. I've been selling and shipping them for more than 25 years. When you purchase an antique phonograph from me, you'll receive a phonograph that arrives safely because it's been carefully packed (by me, not by some well-intentioned but nonetheless confounded, doe-eyed teenager working at the UPS store who wouldn't know a phonograph from a fire extinguisher), and you'll receive a phonograph that includes thorough but easy-to-understand set-up and operating instructions, so you won't be left scratching your head, trying to figure out how it works.  Sure, you can probably get a lower price from Joe and Janet Barn-Find, but when your "bargain" arrives broken, and without any hint of how it works or how you might be able to put it back together, you'll realize that you really do get exactly what you pay for.
