I AM NOT SELLING A KIT, only an excellent new copy of the full-size original Testors FRESHMAN 09 kit PLAN for you to build your own UC trainer.

In the 1950s Testors model cement company produced a full line of UC model airplane kits. They were the FRESHMAN, SOPHOMORE, JUNIOR and SENIOR. The models came in .09, .19 and .29 powered sizes. (I have plans for all of the kits - Just ask)

Pop always said his favorite was the FRESHMAN .29 because it, and Carl Goldberg's TRAINEE, were his introduction to successful UC flying back in 1950 when Pop was 14.

I am offering a new, full-size copy of the 24" span FRESHMAN 09 kit PLAN. Most old modelers have a K & B, O.K. Cub or Enya .09 engine in their workshop somewhere. A SIG airfoil shaped 4" wide x 1/4" thick x 36" long sheet is perfect for the solid wood wing on the FRESHMAN 09. (I show that SIG airfoil shaped sheet beneath my plans, although it is not included in this listing)

My picture of the noses of SOPHOMORE and FRESHMAN 09 is just to show you that Testors was so anxious to use the new McCoy .09 that they drew a sketch of the engine on the SOPHOMORE plan that was only a guess and then the sketch on the right---in the FRESHMAN plan---is what the McCoy .09 actually looked like when it finally came out. Prior to this timeframe there was just the Cub .09 available. No one yet knew that the new McCoy .09 was going to be so hard to start. 

The last picture is of Jonathan Moreno holding a FRESHMAN 09. His mentor sent this photo and said the young man was able to loop his model with an O.K. Cub .09 engine.
