Explore the captivating history of The Life & Times of Robert Bruce Ricketts. This work is for the first time a complete history of this personality that has over twenty years of research, that the subtitle says it all...In Command of Time Elapsed. The Ricketts name in Pennsylvania has a following, that the State named a state park after him. Mr. Ricketts is also the famous captain of Battery F 1st Pennsylvania Light Artillery. On the night of July 2, 1863, his battery defended with success East Cemetery Hill, in a fercious battle that saved the Union line from collasping. Twenty years after the civil war, an ex-Confederate officer while visiting Wilkes-Barre, Ricketts' home town, was introduced to Colonel Ricketts. “Ricketts?” he said. “That name sounds familiar. I was in the charge on Ricketts Battery at Gettysburg.” "Well,” said the gentleman who had introduced them, “this is the commander of that battery.”
The Southerner stepped back and surveyed “Runt” Ricketts from head to foot. Then he said, apparently half to himself: “And did this little cuss command Battery Hell!”
