Original May 15, 1939 letter from the Colgate-Palmolive-Peet Company of Jersey City, NJ to W.A. Hammet of Bishopville, South Carolina. This vintage business correspondence demands payment of $26.92 with unusually stern and pointed language, questioning the recipient’s integrity and referencing “MISPLACED CONFIDENCE” and a “BLOT on YOUR RECORD.” Signed by the General Credit Manager. A striking example of mid-20th-century corporate debt collection tactics. Great piece of business ephemera or advertising history.
