Ford Mk2 Escort Turbo
‘77 1300 GL
Four door
Genuine uk car
Miami blue with genuine patina
Mileage (around 110k ish on shell)
Shell is tidy, has had work done in the past but requires no welding, it’s solid, and all the doors / windows work and lock as they should. All the window seals are good. The brake servo tower was removed and it’s running a custom Wilwood master cylinder with all new brake lines front to back. It’s also running the old style ‘Ford’ grille and a Mexico style lower valance. 1/4 bumpers on the front and a full standard bumper on the rear. Battery is relocated to the boot with an earth kill switch in there and feeds power to a power stud at the front that powers the engine etc…
Was a 2.0 pinto but now fitted with an mx5 1.8 vvt engine which has been turbo converted. Engine is around 100k but was running fine from the donor car so just serviced it, did the water pump, belt and tensioner and the filters etc…
Its custom mounted to the standard subframe, uses mx5 engine mounts. Has a kraken manifold (one of the best cast manifolds you can get for an mx5), a td04-13 (Subaru wrx), custom braided oil feed and a 10an braided oil return which had a fitting welded into the sump. A forge front mount is tucked away with custom 2.5” boost piping and it spools up really quick. A 2.5” stainless downpipe into an escort supersprint exhaust. It’s had the EGR blanked and removed. Original fuel tank converted to EFI with all AN fittings and lines to Bosch 200 series pump, inline AN filter, runs to a set of Bofi racing 550cc Bosch ev14 injectors and sytec 5 bar fuel pressure reg. modified Honda civic alloy radiator and 12” electric fan which is controlled by the ecu.
Motorsport electronics ME360 ecu with built in wideband and a brand new Bosch wideband sensor in the downpipe. This is mated to a standalone brand new motorsport electronics engine loom for the mx5. Added an electronic boost controller and it’s running an external map sensor too. The VVT works as it should and all of the data is displayed on a Powertune Digital 7”
Display in a motorsport 3D custom dash housing to keep it all looking fresh.
It’s running ARP flywheel bolts to a stock 1.8 flywheel and then uses an XTD stage 2 sprung clutch with uprated clutch bolts, an mx5 mk2/2.5 5 speed box (cheap and reliable) and it goes to a group 1 style one piece prop that uses the bigger 1300 series yokes and it’s custom made to be Mazda one end and Ford the other. It’s got a brand new slave cylinder and a braided clutch line. Mx5 clutch set up has been grafted to the side of the escort pedal box so it uses all off the shelf mx5 parts and the clutch master is in the bay next to the brake master.
The rear end is a standard English, it was rebuilt before the engine went in. New diff bearings and seals. It’s running 3:89 gears and an open diff. The rear brakes are 8” drums, new cylinders, shoes and the drums were skimmed. The brake lines are all new and the handbrake set up was refurbished. The brake flexi line to the car is braided. It has poly bushed rs2000 style anti tramp bar kit, Gaz gold rear shocks, 2” lowering blocks and single leaf conversion.
The front end has standard legs with lowering springs. Recent wheel bearings, m16 calipers with braided lines. Adjustable rose jointed poly bushed lower control arms. And a poly bushed front ARB.
The car is currently set at 12psi boost, 3 bar fuel pressure, it’s been mapped and is running a healthy 220 wheel horse power (240 at the flywheel) and has plenty of scope for more for little money. With the modern style ev14 injectors you get real world 35mpg on a run as opposed to rx8 ones.
The interior is lovely. Pretty much brand new Cobra LeMans seats, heated, on Cobra low subframes and runners. Trimmed in brown vinyl with Harris tweed centres. The rear bench is trimmed to match along with the door cards and visors trimmed in matching brown vinyl. Standard mx5 shifter with a brown wooden gear knob. Aftermarket boss kit with a 340mm wooden momo Indy steering wheel. Roof lining is standard cream and not in bad shape. Has a bolt in full cage, with door bars. The bars are included but not fitted. There’d also a fire extinguisher on the rear part of the cage. Aftermarket fuel gauge fitted (it’s vague but still tells you when you have no fuel).
The front hubs and rear shafts have been re drilled to 4x114 and are running JDM SSR Mk2 wheels. 6.5j on the front and 7j on the rear. Wheels are polished and the centres are custom painted to match the valve cover, intake and turbo housing. Tyres are more or less brand new 175/50/13 Nankang NS2R all around. SSR shank wheel nuts all around in correct Ford fitment. Brand new pine engineering centre caps.
I have a few spare bits, a gearbox, an atlas axle off a 2.8 capri and a 3:44 cw&p that was going to build up for the back of the car to take the power.
Feel free to ask any questions. I’ve probably missed loads.
