(ca. 1860) Washington and Everett Medal by Joseph Merriam PCGS MS64RB
Musante GW-322, Baker-214. Copper. MS-64 RB (PCGS).
Approximate Diameter 32mm
Copper
Light olive brown with substantial pale orange remaining close to the devices all around. A medal celebrating well-known orator Edward Everett, issued a couple of years prior to his appearance as the keynote speaker at Gettysburg. His two-hour speech earned him precisely no further fame, however, as it was eclipsed by the 272 words spoken by President Lincoln.
