Please kindly be noted that:

1. Initial Boil/Soak: Start by boiling the wood for **at least 1 hour**, or soak it for up to 4 hours**. Adding baking soda or salt to the water is recommended during this step. 2. Color Change: As the wood boils or soaks, tannins will leach out, causing the water to turn dark brown. This is normal. 3. Repeated Boiling (Key Step): To fully remove the tannins and prevent future discoloration: Repeat this draining and boiling process several times until the water stays relatively clear after boiling. You'll know the tannins are mostly gone when the water color stops changing dramatically with each boil.
