Blackpool Tram DVD No.107 - Autumn/Winter 2025
Autumn 2025: After a ten month lay-off the Heritage trams returned on a limited basis in October, working Illuminations tours during the Lightpool event. Cars 717 and The Warship were reinstated to traffic, working off Starr Gate depot again, and usually one car worked three tours on each night of operation. Footage of the two trams is shown here on numerous dates.
Nostalgia: With the Heritage service now over, tram stops removed and all but two cars withdrawn from service, this edition goes back to happier times when trams ruled the rails and were an important part of the Blackpool scene. Footage here comes from three locations: Starr Gate, Central & Tower and Thornton Gate, filmed 30-years ago, in the mid-1990s. At this time, almost all of the longstanding fleet were in service including all seven Twins, the eight Centenary cars, 23 of the 25 Balloons, multi coloured Brush cars and the five Illuminated cars. The footage featured here has been upscaled and improved and what was a bit grainy and wobbly back then, is now crystal clear and with a few other tweaks and improvements, it's almost like it was filmed today! Covering 1994-1996, on reflection, these were great years with so many trams in traffic, Twins on short journeys on a busy Bank Holiday, right through to Boats to Fleetwood on a Market Tuesday. If you need a Blackpool tram boost - this is it!
