Before First Use: Creating a Mineral Layer
Before using your iron kettle, it is important to build an initial layer of mineral scale.
Fill the kettle about 80 percent with water, bring it to a boil, pour it out, and repeat this process three times.
After the third boil, the kettle is ready for normal use.
Depending on your region, the water may be very soft and unable to create mineral scale on its own.
If this happens, please boil hard mineral water several times to help form the white mineral layer.
This mineral layer protects the inside of the kettle and helps ensure long-lasting, trouble-free use.
Once you complete the initial step of creating the mineral layer, caring for your iron kettle becomes even easier—much simpler than maintaining a regular pot.
By following the guidelines below, you can enjoy your kettle for many years with minimal effort.
