This impressive vintage Reed & Barton silver-plated ice bucket (Pattern 229) is a refined example of mid-century American hotelware. Made in Taunton, Massachusetts, USA, it features Reed & Barton’s signature craftsmanship with a bright mirror-polished body, bold lion head ring handles, a shaped domed lid, and a decorative acorn-form finial. The underside is clearly hallmarked: “REED & BARTON 229.”

The finial on this lid is factory-soldered, not screwed Reed & Barton produced many mid-century pieces with this soldered method, and some finials show a slight natural tiltfrom hand alignment during production.

This is original to the piece, not a repair or defect, and the finial is completely secure.

This model was produced both with and without a removable liner.this ice bucket is an original single-wall version as manufactured.
