ORIGINAL ISSUE 1980
These
vintage movie tickets were typically distributed in limited
quantities
at the time of the original theatrical release of
the film in Japan.
These beautiful tickets are intricately designed, featuring
artwork, characters, or scenes from the film -
very similar to movie posters.
They serve as a
physical memento of the movie-going experience in Japan
and are
considered collectibles due to their limited availability.
Collectors value these tickets for their aesthetic appeal,
rarity, and connection to popular films.
Most movie tickets,
which have been used, may have general signs of wear, such as
light edge wear,
a minute chip, or unobtrusive smudges due to the
fact that the ticket has gone through several people.
This movie ticket is exceptional!

STAR WARS: EPISODE V
THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK
MOVIE TICKET
is a beautiful "JAPANESE ONLY" Movie ticket (minus the stub-end) from
STAR WARS: EPISODE V - THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK ©1980 Lucasfilm, Ltd.
This is the ORIGINAL MOVIE TICKET issued in 1980 by TOHO Cinemas in Japan
when STAR WARS: EPISODE V - THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK was released
and it was used for the showing inside the theater.
The ticket was used several years ago and has a rough edge at the bottom
where the ticket stub-end was removed by the usher.
The ticket was distributed in limited quantities in Japan
and serves as a rare memento of the Japanese theatrical run.
Japanese movie tickets has its own intricate designs and artwork
which makes this ticket unique to the Japanese movie market
and highly collectible, especially since there is a culture of
collecting poster-like movie tickets from Japan.
Japanese movie tickets are often sought after by collectors.
The ticket was only available during the venue and NOW very difficult to obtain.
This movie ticket features an intricate design of artwork, characters and scenes
from the film, similar to a movie poster, and is considered a very valuable collectible.
This first Japanese movie ticket arrived in early '80, to let everyone in Japan
know that the second film in the Star Wars
trilogy was here.
At the top, it says, "The second in the Star Wars series!" (Star Wars
シリーズ第2弾!),
and you can see Darth Vader's helmet looming in the green
atmospheric background
amidst the yellow fireworks.
Below Vader is in the Tibanna gas mining colony Cloud City,
floating in the
purplish clouds of the planet Bespin.
The Millennium Falcon and several
X-wings are thrusting towards the right edge of the layout,
and the main
artistic composition is being projected outwards to the viewer in many
layers.
Lando Calrissian is standing over Leia and Solo's embrace, while
Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2,
and Luke Skywalker, in battle fatigues, are
front and center.
The rest of the ticket shows several illustrated
characters and movie scenes,
including the assault on Echo Base, AT-AT
Walkers, the head of a tauntaun,
an Imperial probe droid, Luke's mossy
unsubmerged X-wing on Dagobah,
and the bounty hunters summoned to the
Executor.
Just below the artwork is the famous tagline in red and blue
the Japanese title
logo スター・ウォーズ 帝国の逆襲
with the cast and crew information below.
The 20th Century Fox and Dolby System emblems are
printed towards
the bottom of the poster as well as the price of the ticket ¥1000.
The ticket's image bleeds to
the edge on either side
The ticket actually looks like the "micro-poster" from the Japanese theatrical
STAR WARS: EPISODE V - THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK.
The size of the ticket is about 6.5cm x 13.5cm...
a pretty large size for movie ticket!!!
Here, in the USA, movie tickets have no illustrations
just some verbiage and they fade over time.
