This listing is for a vintage Sony Betamovie BMC-220 camcorder with the original power adapter, batteries, carrying case, and manual pages. The camcorder does not function properly and is being sold strictly for parts, repair, or display only.

🔧 Functionality / Testing Notes

Power issue (primary problem)

• The camera does not power on consistently.

• When the power cord is moved or held in certain positions, the CAUTION light briefly comes on and the camera begins making a repeating clicking noise from the tape mechanism.

• If the cord is NOT positioned correctly, the camera does nothing.

• This strongly suggests a loose or failing DC power jack, internal connection problem, or worn wiring.

Tape / eject behavior

• When power temporarily engages (from moving the cord), the EJECT button works and will open the tape carriage.

• Without the “sweet spot” on the power cord, eject does not respond.

Likely internal issues (common to this model)

Based on symptoms, assume the following need repair:

• Loose DC power jack or cracked solder joints

• Loading mechanism failure (clicking)

• Possible capacitor failure (very common on Betamovies)

• Worn internal gears / dried grease

🔍 Cosmetic Condition (See Photos)

• There is a chip/cracked corner on the right rear side of the camera body which exposes a portion of the internal circuit board.

• Surface wear consistent with age.

• Lens shows typical dust but no major scratches.

• Grip strap shows wear but is intact.

• Battery door present.

• Microphone, viewfinder, and buttons appear complete.

This unit is not in mint condition — please review all photos.

🔋 AC-M110 Power Adapter & Batteries (Included)

Included is the original Sony AC-M110 power adapter/charger, which powers the camera and charges NP-series batteries.

Testing the AC-M110:

• The green POWER light works.

• The yellow CHARGE light illuminates when a battery is inserted.

• I do not know if the batteries actually hold a charge due to age (Ni-Cd batteries from this era typically do not).

• The adapter itself appears to function, but since the camera’s power jack has issues, I cannot fully verify camera-side performance.
