Installation
Preparation
Warm up the engine for a few minutes, park the vehicle on a level surface and then turn off the engine.Open the hood, twist off the oil filler cap in the counter clockwise direction and lift up the yellow handled dipstick a few inches.Slide under the car with your oil catch basin.
Drain oil
Raise the vehicle.The oil drain bolt is located at the rear of the gray metal oil pan next to the exhaust pipe.Loosen the oil drain bolt with the 10mm socket and ratcheting wrench by turning it counter clockwise.Allow the old oil to drain out for at least a few minutes then reinsert the oil drain bolt,tight about 14 Nm (10 Ft lbs) of torque.
Change element
The black plastic oil filter housing is located on the driver side of the engine near the oil filler hole and below some hoses.Loosen the oil filter cap with 24mm socket to the 1/2" drive ratcheting wrench.Pull the old filter and o-ring out of the cap.Snap the new cartridge filter in to the bottom of the cap.Push the new o-ring down to the bottom of the threads,lubricating it.Tighten the cap about 25 Nm (18.5 Ft lbs) of torque.
