It is limited edition- 55/175, actual Art work is 3x1.75”. This is an etching by Sue Tushingham McNary. The artist hand etched the plate and using 100% rag paper, hand printed each one of the prints in the edition. Sue has either destroyed or radically changed the plate to ensure the integrity of this edition. The technical name for the process used is Intaglio, which means carving below the surface. The artist carves a plate with diamond hard tools or acid. The plate is hand inked and hand wiped, leaving the ink in the depressed areas. The plate is covered with a piece of damp rag paper and a heavy roller is hand cranked over the press bed causing the ink to transfer from the plate to the paper. The plate must be cleaned and inked for each print.
