Striking signed Arias hand‑carved wood sculpture of a mother and child in a strong modernist folk style. The tall, elongated figure and simplified facial features are characteristic of mid‑century Latin American carvings attributed to the Arias family of artists, known for their stylized depictions of Indigenous and maternal themes.

Measures approximately 17" tall including the base (see photos with ruler for scale). Carved from a solid block of hardwood with an integral square base, it has a warm medium‑brown tone and a smooth hand‑rubbed finish. The front of the base is signed "Arias".

Condition is very good for its age with light surface wear, small nicks, and finish rubs from normal handling and display. No cracks, breaks or repairs observed – please review all photos to assess the condition for yourself.
