First Nations artist, printmaker

Illustrated early collection of Robert Davidson 

This is a 1979 First Edition hardcover book with illustrations and notes by acclaimed First Nations printmaker and artist, Robert Davidson. 

The book collects some 75 images and commentary to represent the early career of this promising artist.  

It has 118 unmarked pages and measures 9 1/4  by 9 1/2 inches (23 x 24 centimeters). 

It is in near fine condition, with no writing or ownership marks, no underlining and no library or remainder marks. Pages are clean, spine is robust and the boards are unblemished. 

The front free endpaper is not present.

The dust jacket is in very good condition with several restored tears at the spine, now barely visible. It has been custom fitted with a mylar jacket sleeve to preserve its contents for decades to come.

Robert Davidson  is one of Canada’s most respected and important contemporary visual artists. A NW coastal artist of Haida and Tlingit descent, he is a master sculptor of totem poles and masks and works in a variety of other media as a printmaker, painter and jeweler.
