My wife & I are not a factory direct retailer; we are just regular folk selling high quality vintage, household, collectible & other new & used items on eBay.  We source our items from various places.  New are mostly from closeouts or retailers that are closing a store or at auction, whereas the used are usually from estate sales or thrift stores.  Many of the items we sell are NOS (new old stock) or vintage, and are sold as-is.  Any item that is listed as new & unopened is just that.  However there are instances, especially when the packaging significantly or completely obscures the product, where we feel it is necessary to open the package in order to ensure that the item is in fact in 100% new condition as advertised (if this is the case, it will be disclosed this in the listing).  Otherwise, the item you are considering for purchase has, in effect, never been opened and therefore is unused and 100% new.
