1928 Vintage Press Photo.
Photo shows new Ford Flivver plane on its arrival at Naval Air Station, Washington from Spartanburg, South Carolina, piloted by Harry Brooks, who piloted Mrs. Lindbergh on her flight to Mexico, the plane left within the hour for Detroit. Note the underslung wings, resembling those of the German Junkers.


Harry Joseph Brooks was an American test pilot. His crash of the Ford Flivver for the Stout Metal Airplane Division of the Ford Motor Company in 1928 was cited with the Great Depression as a factor in Henry Ford's exit from the aviation business.
