A complete, uniform ten-volume set of the classic Wheatley edition of The Diary of Samuel Pepys, published by G. Bell & Sons c. 1920. This expanded Bell issue includes the full nine volumes of the Diary plus the supplementary tenth volume (“Pepysiana”), containing Wheatley’s extended notes, appendices, and historical commentary.

Bound in the publisher’s original cloth with gilt spine titling and blind decorative borders. A handsome and well-preserved set: light rubbing to spine tips and extremities, occasional mild sunning to spines, otherwise clean and sound. Text blocks are tight and square with bright, clean pages; no foxing of note. No ownership markings. A solid, attractive example with strong shelf presence.

Henry B. Wheatley’s edition long served as the standard scholarly text of Pepys’s Diary prior to the definitive Latham & Matthews edition of the 1970s. Sets of this complete Bell printing — particularly with the tenth “Pepysiana” volume present — have become increasingly scarce in collectible condition.
