The FIFA Women`s World Cup USA 2003 was the stage for the world`s greatest female players to showcase their incredible skill, tenacity and passion for the game. A few players rose above the rest, making this year`s tournament their own. Playmakers, goal scorers, defensive stoppers, impenetrable keepers. . . these were the difference makers, the true stars of the FIFA Women`s World Cup USA 2003.

The 2003 FIFA Women's World Cup was the fourth edition of the FIFA Women's World Cup, the quadrennial championship of women's association football teams organized by FIFA. It was held in the United States from 20 September to 12 October 2003 at six venues in six cities across the country. The tournament was won by Germany, who became the first country to win both men's and women's World Cup.

China was originally awarded the right to host the tournament, which would have taken place from 23 September to 11 October in four cities. A severe outbreak of SARS in early 2003 affected Guangdong in southern China and prompted FIFA to move the Women's World Cup to the United States, who had hosted the previous edition in 1999. China were instead granted hosting rights for the 2007 FIFA Women's World Cup and financial compensation while the United States Soccer Federation made new arrangements to host at smaller stadiums.

This program takes you through the tournament step-by-step with exciting game highlights, behind the scenes footage and crowd shots that capture the passion of the event.
The FIFA Women`s World Cup USA 2003 was a tournament of surprises. While Germany came into the competition with high hopes, none of the experts could have predicted the utter dominance they displayed on the way to their first ever FIFA Women`s World Cup championship. After cruising through group play with a steady barrage of goals and staunch goalkeeping, the Germans handily defeated pre-tournament favorite and defending champion USA in the semis and surprising finalists Sweden to capture the trophy.
A must have for every fan of women`s soccer!
