Synopsis:

1. "You Can Change the World" (1950):

Jack Benny and his valet, Eddie "Rochester" Anderson, host a gathering of Hollywood luminaries to hear the inspiring message of Father James Keller, the founder of The Christophers religious group. Among the guests are Loretta Young, William Holden, Irene Dunne, Ann Blyth, Paul Douglas, Bing Crosby, and Bob Hope via telephone. The Christophers aim to utilize movies and television to empower young people to enact positive change and counter the spread of Communism. Father Keller concludes the event by recounting the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Originally screened in church groups and later on television, this film served as a precursor to the Christophers TV series, which aired on ABC starting in 1952 and continues to be broadcast on local cable stations as Christopher Closeup. Directed by Leo McCarey, the film attracted numerous prominent figures likely due to the House Un-American Activities Committee's investigations into suspected Communist sympathizers in Hollywood, with support for the Christophers viewed as patriotic.

2. "Let George Do It" (1952):

An episode from The Christophers series, "Let George Do It" features beloved TV fathers Danny Thomas and Robert Young learning about the perils of political corruption from Father Keller, with Dennis Day providing a rendition of "God Bless America."

3. "On The Right Side" (1949):

In this Christian parable set in New York, Ann Savage (known for "Detour") endeavors to steer her addicted husband away from a life of gambling, despite her own past connections to gangster Meyer Lansky's casinos.

4. "Family Affair" (1952):

Iconic tough-guy actor Steve McQueen portrays a lovestruck sailor striving to reach his beloved on the phone in this rare color film, co-starring J. Pat O'Malley. Produced by Bell Telephone, it underscores the significance of multiple phones in a household.

5. "Shopping Around" (1954):

William Frawley, famed for his role in "I Love Lucy," portrays a weary salesman who discovers the importance of interpersonal connection in this promotional film for Chevrolet auto dealers.

Additionally, the DVD includes rare commercials and public service announcements featuring Bette Davis, Shirley Temple, Spanky McFarland, and Joan Crawford.
