The Gunderson Multi-Max autorack is one of the newest auto carriers running on today’s railroads. Built in the mid-2010s by Greenbrier’s Gunderson division, these cars were designed to safely move brand-new automobiles across North America. Unlike the older open-style racks, the Multi-Max has fully enclosed sides with small vents, locking end doors, and an adjustable interior deck system that can handle everything from compact cars to full-size SUVs and trucks. They are used by all the major railroads, including Canadian National, and are now the standard for moving vehicles by rail.
