Product Description

The COMP Cams 5761-L is a cam phaser limiter plate for Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, and Ram vehicles equipped with the Gen III HEMI V8 engine with Variable Valve Timing -- covering the 5.7L (2009+), 6.1L, 6.4L (2011+), and 6.2L supercharged Hellcat (2015+). The factory cam phasers are computer-controlled cam gears that use oil pressure to retard the camshafts up to 38-60 crank degrees for optimized efficiency across the RPM range. While this provides excellent fuel economy and broad power delivery, the wide timing movement leaves minimal piston-to-valve clearance -- restricting cam upgrades to small, conservative profiles with little overlap.

The COMP Cams phaser limiter is a precision-machined spacer that installs inside the cam gear's oil chambers, taking up excess volume and restricting movement to just 14 crank degrees (7 cam degrees). This opens the cam design window for serious performance camshafts with tighter lobe separations while retaining VVT functionality within the reduced range. The mechanical limiter also provides a critical safety net -- unlike software-only limits, it physically prevents valve contact during sudden RPM changes from missed shifts, clutch dumps, or driveline failures.
