VTG Rare 1990 Harding Black Studio Pottery Ceramic 4.25” Tall. Signed on base from the studio of the famous Texas Artist. Nice Dark Blue Mug. I took photos with and without flash to try and show some of the depth of the coloring.

About the artist: Harding Black (1912-2004) was born in Aransas Pass, Texas and attended San Antonio Junior College from 1929 to 1930. Black joined the Witte Museum Archaeological Society in 1931, and in doing so gained access to the Museum’s collection of Native American pottery. This exposure ignited his interest in clay as a medium. In 1932 Black began teaching ceramics classes at the Witte Museum. Black is regarded as the leading individual of modern, handmade Texas pottery. He is well known for his personally formulated glazes and functional stoneware pots.
