This beautiful Chinese lacquer box features an inset antique porcelain shard from a late Qing Dynasty vessel, showcasing a hand-painted blue and white lotus or chrysanthemum motif under clear glaze. The lacquered wood body is hand-decorated in traditional gold and red florals with fine detailing around the edges. These shard boxes were popular early-mid 20th-century creations, preserving fragments of older porcelain in new artful forms.

This piece makes a lovely trinket or jewelry box and a conversation-worthy accent for collectors of Chinese export or decorative arts.

Condition: One small lacquer chip on the rim that appears to have been neatly retouched. Light surface wear consistent with age. There is a tiny dark spot on the porcelain lid from the original porcelain firing process. Porcelain inset is free from cracks or repairs. Clean and displays beautifully.

Era: Shard circa 1880–1910 (Qing dynasty), lacquer body likely early-mid 20th century.
Materials: Hand-painted porcelain, lacquered wood.
