  July 3, 1973 - David Bowie said goodbye to Ziggy Stardust, his most famous alter -ego, in front of 5000 fans amazed at the Hammersmith Odeon in London. Now the film and the restored soundtrack will be published for the first time for the 50th anniversary of the show. The famous director from Pennebaker (Monterey Pop, Bob Dylan - Don't Look Back, Depeche Mode - 101) immortalized the big event filming Bowie and The Spiders from Mars in the backstage and stage. The digital restoration of the new version of the film was supervised by his son, Frazer Pennebaker with remastered audio.
  
  Although he was shot 50 years ago, the film has not been seen for over a decade. However, the film and its soundtrack have recently been remastered with the medley of "The Jean Genie/Love Me Do" and "Round and Round" with the legendary Jeff Beck, the latter song makes its first appearance ever. Both performances were mixed by Tony Visconti, a long -standing collaborator of Bowie.
  
  The show presented Bowie's famous speech shortly before the final encore, 'Rock' n 'Roll Suicide', where he revealed that he would withdraw the character of Ziggy Stardust from the scene. The shocking announcement was a surprise for everyone present, including the members of his band, and was the first announcement of this type in rock and roll.
  
  Fifty years after Ziggy will finally become worldwide with a digitally restored version of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars : The Motion Picture, projected in over 1000 cinemas worldwide.
  
  July 3, 2023 - Eventim Apollo Hammersmith (ex Odeon) will host the world's newly restored version of the film fifty years later. As part of the event, the pianist collaborator of a life of David Bowie, Mike Garson, will open the show as he did 50 years ago, with an arrangement only plan of some more known traces of Bowie.
  
  Mike Garson “The show at the Hammersmith was phenomenal. What people don't know about the show is that I opened the show only with the plan. David asked me to do his opening show. So for fifteen minutes I took some of his hits, for example "Changes", "Life on Mars ?" And "Ziggy" and created a medley for the show. I was frightened to death. And so also Bowie. He told me in the backstage that he felt more fear for me than for him that night! ".
  
  Following his performance Mike will also be part of a panel at Eventim Apollo presented by the Premiato Editore, judge at the Mercury Music Prize and creative director to the Echo Velvet, Phil Alexander. They will discuss the inheritance of the original show and the pan-generational resonance of Ziggy.
  
  
  The panel will be screened in cinemas from all over Europe the same evening followed by the film. Other projections will then follow all over the world during July, involving more than 1000 cinemas.
