Scarce Second Edition of this work in full leather binding, respined with gilt titles to the second compartment and blind stamped decoration to the other compartments. Distinct lean to the volume, rather crude old binding. Pages 76 and 77 are stuck together in the gutter making some of the text illegible - see photos.

INCOMPLETE – lacking B4-B5 or pages 5-8 the title page to the second part, and the illustrations preceding the Second, Third and Fourth Parts supplied in facsimile on modern paper.

Pagination: [xii], 254, [iv], 95, [i], 78pp, with an engraved frontispiece, 4 pages, a title page and 3 illustrations supplied in facsimile.

Provenance: no signatures or bookplates.

Approximately 7 ½ inches tall (19cm).

  • Spine – good condition – gilt titles and blind decoration to the spine, five raised bands, gently rubbed and worn, very distinct lean to the spine.
  • Joints – good condition – sound, repaired.
  • Corners – good condition – gently bumped and worn.
  • Boards – good condition – original boards, marked and worn.
  • Page edges – good condition – top edges darkened, all edges tanned.

  • Hinges – good condition – sound, repaired.
  • Paste downs – good condition – tanned and marked.
  • End papers – good condition – tanned and marked.
  • Title – good condition – tanned and foxed.
