Vehicle Fitment

This is a universal product. It is not designed for a specific vehicle make, model, or year. It is compatible with all motor vehicles and for general machinery lubrication wherever an NLGI Grade 2 MoS2-fortified grease is called for. Always observe the recommendations of the component or machine manufacturer before applying.

Fitment Notes

  • Universal application — suitable for all motor vehicles (cars, trucks, motorcycles) and general industrial machinery wherever a high-pressure, MoS2-fortified NLGI 2 grease is specified.
  • Primarily designed as a CV (constant velocity) joint lubricant, and also recommended for heavily loaded bearings, splined shafts, threads, guides, and other joints and pivot points subject to high load or shock loading.
  • NOT suitable for high-speed bearings such as wheel bearings. Use a dedicated wheel bearing grease for those applications.
  • The 400g (14.1 oz) plastic cartridge is compatible with standard 400g grease guns (the most common grease gun cartridge format in the automotive aftermarket).
  • Apply as standard grease practice dictates. Observe the lubrication interval and application quantity recommendations of the bearing or component manufacturer.

Features

  • MoS2 (Molybdenum Disulfide) solid lubricant additive — during operation, MoS2 particles deposit onto metal sliding surfaces and form a permanently adhering ultra-thin film. This film continues to lubricate even if the grease supply is temporarily interrupted or depleted, providing critical dry-run and limp-home protection that conventional greases cannot match.
  • Outstanding extreme-pressure (EP) characteristics — the combination of lithium soap thickener, base oil, and MoS2 gives the grease exceptional load-carrying capacity, making it highly effective in heavily loaded applications where standard greases would be squeezed out or break down.
  • Excellent protection against wear and seizure even under extreme loads and temperatures — the MoS2 film bridges metal surfaces under pressure that would defeat oil-film lubrication alone, preventing metal-to-metal contact and galling in high-load zones such as CV joint internals and spline interfaces.
  • Wide operating temperature range: -65°C to +120°C (-85°F to +248°F) continuously, and up to +130°C (+266°F) for brief excursions — covering the full range of temperatures encountered in demanding automotive applications from cold starts in sub-zero conditions to sustained high-speed operation.
  • Excellent resistance to cold and hot water washout — maintains consistency, adhesion, and lubricating effectiveness even in wet or humid operating environments, making it suitable for undercarriage and drivetrain components exposed to road splash, rain, and washing.
  • Good corrosion protection — inhibits rust and corrosion on metal surfaces beneath the grease film, extending the service life of protected components.
  • High adhesion — the grease remains in place under vibration, rotation, and movement rather than migrating out of the lubrication zone, which is particularly important in grease-packed joints, boots, and sealed components.
  • Suitable for a wide application range in all motor vehicles and for general machine lubrication — a single, versatile product that covers CV joints, chassis grease points, spline shafts, adjustment threads, door hinges, suspension pivot points, and light industrial machinery lubrication.
  • Made in Germany by LIQUI MOLY — produced at LIQUI MOLY's manufacturing facilities in Ulm, Germany, to the same quality standards as the full LIQUI MOLY professional product range.

Product Description

LIQUI MOLY 22255 Long-Life Grease + MoS2 is a premium-grade NLGI 2 high-pressure grease fortified with molybdenum disulfide (MoS2) solid lubricant, manufactured in Germany to LIQUI MOLY's professional product standards. It is classified to DIN 51502 KPF 2K-30, confirming its suitability as a high-pressure (K), MoS2-fortified (F), NLGI Grade 2 grease rated for continuous operation down to -30°C. The product's operating temperature range extends from -65°C to +120°C (-85°F to +248°F) continuously and to +130°C (+266°F) for brief excursions, covering the full range of thermal demands found in modern automotive drivetrain and chassis applications.

The defining characteristic of this grease is the MoS2 solid lubricant additive. During operation, MoS2 particles from the grease carrier deposit onto metal sliding surfaces and form a permanently adhering, ultra-thin film. This film has an extremely low coefficient of friction and remains mechanically stable under loads that would exceed the capacity of oil-film lubrication alone. Critically, the MoS2 film continues to lubricate even if the grease supply is temporarily depleted — providing dry-run and limp-home protection that conventional EP greases cannot offer. This property makes the 22255 particularly well-suited to CV (constant velocity) joints, which are its primary design application, as well as to splined driveshaft connections, heavily loaded chassis pivot points, guide threads, and other high-load sliding and articulating interfaces in the drivetrain and suspension.

The 22255 is suitable for a wide range of applications across all motor vehicles and for general machine lubrication. It is not, however, suitable for high-speed bearings such as wheel bearings, which require a different grease specification — dedicated wheel bearing grease should be used in those applications. The 400g plastic cartridge is the standard format compatible with the most common grease guns in professional workshop and DIY use. Apply using standard grease gun practice and follow the component manufacturer's recommended lubrication intervals and application quantities.
