A Stunning Nippon Antique Gilded Moriage Creamer & Lidded Sugar Bowl Set
Get ready for the holidays!
Made in Japan, this lovely set features hand-painted coastal scenes on porcelain, adding a touch of elegance to your table setting.
I've provided photos of the front and back of each piece as the scenic paintings vary.
The gold beaded moriage finish is primarily gold with touches of other colors including blue, green and faded red.
Moriage is a textured, raised design created by applying multiple layers of slip clay.
It was a very popular Japanese artform in the late 1800's through the mid-1900's.
Likely created in the early 20th century, this set is in
excellent condition with light wear on gold handles commensurate with age.
Interior is clean.
The Nippon maple leaf backstamp dates from 1891 on.
Creamer measures 3"H and sugar bowl with lid is approx. 4"H.
