📜 Historical Background

The “Widow’s Mite” story appears in the Gospel of Mark 12:41-44. Jesus observed a poor widow giving two small coins to the temple treasury and said she had given more than the wealthy donors, for she offered all that she had.

The small bronze lepta were the lowest denomination in ancient Judea and have come to symbolize faith, sacrifice, and humility across centuries of Christian tradition.
