Eizan Electric Railway 900 Series “Kirara” (Maple Orange)
The Eizan Electric Railway operates a scenic private railway line that runs from Demachiyanagi in central Kyoto to the historic Kurama area, nestled at the foot of Mount Kurama. Introduced in 1997, the 900 Series "Kirara" was designed for sightseeing, featuring expansive panoramic windows that offer stunning views of the changing seasons. Originally painted in maple red and maple orange, inspired by Kyoto's famous autumn foliage, one trainset received a new livery in 2019 to commemorate the 90th anniversary of the Kurama Line. The new livery—maple green—evokes the vibrant energy of Kyoto's verdant maple leaves (aomomiji) in early summer.
Now reissued, this updated "Kirara" model features the current "KEIHAN" logo, newly colored interior seating, and revised destination signage. Compact in its two-car configuration, the model is compatible with R150 curves, making it ideal for small layouts using KATO's UNITRACK Compact system. Thanks to its large windows, you can even add miniature figures inside to create lively interior scenes. Paired with maple trees or autumn-themed diorama elements, it's perfect for creating a scenic tribute to Kyoto's seasonal beauty.
Note: This is a re-release. Updated destination stickers are included, and the JAN code and price have been changed.
