Arts and crafts full leather binding with gilt titles to the front board, gilt initials FRP to the rear board, gilt and blind tooling to the boards and spine, five raised bands, top page edges gilt, others tanned and foxed, leather turn-ins and patterned paper to the paste downs, patterned end papers, page tanned, book slightly cocked.

One of ‘The Quiet Hour Series’ volumes – this particular title is scarce for sale online despite 6000 copies printed.

A collection of verse by various authors including Tennyson, Shakespeare, Spenser, Dickens, Browning etc., etc.

Pagination: [vi], 143pp.

Provenance: no inscriptions or bookplates, gilt initials to the rear board.

Approximately 6 inches (15cm) tall.

• Spine – very good condition – glit floral decoration to the compartments, 4 raised bands, minor marks and rubbing, cocked.
• Joints – very good condition – sound, gently rubbed and worn.
• Corners – good condition – gently rubbed and worn.
• Boards – good condition – full gilt and blind decorated leather covered boards, marks and wear, gilt initials to the rear board.
• Page edges – good condition – top edges gilt, others tanned and foxed.
• Binding – very good condition – attractive.

• Hinges – very good condition – sound.
• Paste downs – good condition – patterned paper surrounded by blind and gilt decorated leather.
• End papers – good condition – patterned paper, tanned subsequently with some foxing.
