Taxi Driver, the classic 1976 Martin Scorsese New York City descent-into-schizophrenia mental illness crime murder melodrama ("On every street in every city in this country there's a nobody who dreams of being a somebody."; "He's a lonely forgotten man desperate to prove that he's alive."; "Written by Paul Schrader"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Robert De Niro (nominated for the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Travis Bickle), Jodie Foster (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film), Albert Brooks ("as Tom"; in his first movie role!), Harvey Keitel, Leonard Harris, Peter Boyle ("as 'Wizard'"), Cybill Shepherd ("as 'Betsy''), Martin Scorsese, Joe Spinell, and Richard Higgs. Note that 12 year-old Jodie Foster played a teenage prostitute, which was naturally a very sensitive subject, and her older sister Connie was her stand-in for the sexually suggestive scenes. .
