Chinese Yixing Zisha Pottery Brush Holder Bitong – Lotus & Grapevine Motif – Seal Mark & Decorative Emblem – 9” Tall - Smooth Glazed Finish

This is a finely simplistic crafted Chinese Yixing Zisha pottery brush holder (Bitong), measuring 9 inches tall and 5 ½ inches in diameter. Made from the classic reddish-brown Yishing clay it features an intricately embossed lotus and grapevine motif. The lotus symbolizes purity and enlightenment, while grapes represent abundance and longevity — a combination often cherished in Chinese scholar’s studio art.

The surface is finished with a soft, smooth glaze-like polish, which enhances the natural reddish tone of the Zisha clay and gives the piece a refined, elegant appearance. This subtle finish also highlights the depth of the embossed designs.

In addition to the floral decoration, this brush holder also bears a distinctive black decorative emblem/studio mark on the upper band, adding character and uniqueness to the piece. An impressed seal mark at the base further authenticates its origin.

The interior shows no signs of use, suggesting it was preserved as a decorative or collector’s piece.
