Against the advice of many, I began selling vintage stereo
on eBay almost a decade ago. It’s been great fun, I’ve made some new friends
and have gotten to enjoy at least one example of every vintage stereo piece
ever made (at least for a while!). Problems are few. Unlike other eBay
categories, vintage audio people are a very honest, reasonable, (and
occasionally forgiving) lot. And you’ll find me a fair-minded person to deal
with. This space operates best on mutual reasonableness. There are minor imperfections
in almost every 40-60 year old piece of gear, and occasionally I might fail to
mention a small flaw or miss one feature or another during testing-- and most
understand that. Since you can’t pre-listen to an eBay item in your home and
determine how it sounds with your speakers, I do make all items returnable—on
the buyer’s dime. Every piece is invisibly marked. Returns are checked to
ensure I’m getting exact same item back
and there are no missing parts. Non-conforming returns are reported to eBay.
But like I said— we swim in very honest waters and “switcheroo” return attempts
have happened only a handful of times in 7000+ sales.
Due to the age of this device and the uncertain nature of
vintage electronics, this equipment is being sold AS IS. This is NOT a new
component. As such, it does not come
with any guarantee-- implied or written. Vintage audio equipment is sensitive
and does not travel particularly well. So in rare instances, that which was
working 100% at my house may require adjustment or servicing before working
equally well at yours (this is especially true of turntables and tape machines.
Most on-line sales of vintage electronics happen under these exact same
conditions—but I just wanted to point this out so there are no
misunderstandings or disappointments.
Your order will be well packed, and shipped promptly,
although local pickup is encouraged. I meet Portland-area locals at the
McDonalds on Hwy 30 in the Northwest Industrial part of town, which seems
pretty close for everybody and easily accessible,
In the event of a problem, please reach out to me via eBay’s
messaging system. Problems are few, and I’m very pro-active about solving any
that might crop up. Any negative feedback I’ve ever received came from a person
who didn’t first contact me, then failed to respond back when I attempted to
get clarity on the issue.
Please examine the pictures carefully. They are part of the
description.
I ship ONLY to your eBay-listed address. If you want it sent
elsewhere, you will (prior to purchase), need to go into your settings and
change your address—at least temporarily. Generally, I send domestic orders via
FedEx. If the order value is over $750, the package will require a signature.
International Buyers: Due to differences in electrical
current and so forth, this item is not guaranteed to work outside the US, and
if shipped overseas, is sold strictly AS-IS with no returns or adjustments. I
ship anywhere that e-Bay’s International shipping permits. Most of the time,
residents of a given country can get that information by clicking the “Shipping
and Payments” tab more easily and accurately than I can. If shipping
information cannot be found there, the item likely cannot be shipped to your
country via any eBay-associated carriers. Yes! Given the weight and dimensions
of this item, International shipping will doubtlessly be quite expensive. But
please understand: I simply clicked a box making this available to
International buyers. I do not set shipping rates, can’t change them, do not
profit from them in any way, and can’t do anything for you that eBay won’t do.
In some cases, a freight forwarding service might make more sense for you. Here
are a couple that my International customers have successfully used in the past
and have a good reputation: Nippon Express USA or U.S. Expediters. Both are
located in San Pedro, CA. Contact info is available on-line. eBay will not let
me provide that here.
Your bidding/buying constitutes acceptance. Payment must be
promptly received, or eBay will automatically open an Unpaid Item Case against
you, which negatively affects your account.
I accept order cancellations as long as I have not yet printed the
shipping label.
Zero or low feedback buyers/ bidders (particularly non-US
ones) should message me prior to purchasing or bidding on any item of
significant value. If you don’t, I reserve the right to arbitrarily cancel such
bids or orders.
Sorry for all the “disclaimer” stuff, but to quote the
Farmer’s Insurance guy, “I know a thing or two because I’ve seen a thing or
two”. I’m looking forward to doing business with you and earning more of it in
the future. I absolutely LOVE this stuff, and again- you will find me to be a
reasonable, fair-minded person to deal with.
