As with all preowned & new clothing, I suggest washing it (or them) before wearing and in the case of bathing suits, here are a couple of ideas to safely sanitize.  Simply mix 1/2 cup of hydrogen peroxide with enough water to completely submerge the items. Allow them to soak for at least 15 minutes, though 30 minutes is better. (kills most bacteria, viruses, fungi, and spores. — within eight minutes.) Then, wash as usual. or if doing a whole washer load I add around 1C. Most bathing suits hold up to this very well but if you are unsure test a tiny part of an inside seam or something. or dilute with more water.
