GREECE DEMOCRACY, 150 YRS PARLIAMENT, 1994, 1998, 50 DRACHMAS, XF, USED (4 coins) |
History of coins (written in HELLAS coins catalog - Coins of Modern Greece - by Karamitsos A.)
In 1994, and after 30 years, commemorative circulation coins were minted. They were two 50-drachma coins with the 150th anniversary since the Revolution of September 3, 1844 as subject. The obverse of the first coin shows Dimitrios Kallergis while the second one Ioannis Makrygiannis. The reverse, which is common for both coins, features the Hellenic Parliament and the denomination.
In 1998, 3
commemorative coins were minted, two 50-drachma. The two
50-drachma coins were dedicated to the year of Dionysios Solomos (200th anniversary
of his birth) and Rigas Feraios (200th anniversary of his death) and featured
accordingly the people in honor on the obverse and the national emblem with the
denomination on the reverse.
Condition: The coins in my opinion can be characterized as: F-XF
