Here is a reimaged and repurposed ribbon microphone from Eight Button Mics. Does it look familiar? Well here's the story. This was originally a rather poor copy of a Neumann TLM103. I won't call it a fake as it was badged as a 'Kets' although the badge did look very much like the classic red diamond! Anyway I bought a couple in out of curiosity and because they were incredibly cheap. I thought if they're no good I can use the bodies for donors and the shock mount looks ok. Well they were rubbish so repurposed they will be! This one is now a passive ribbon microphone with a nice ribbon motor of Chinese manufacture and a FAB Microphones transformer. These UK hand wound transformers work very well in combination with the ribbon motor. So it comes with its shock mount and a XLR microphone lead in its original box. Please note. This is a passive ribbon microphone, do not use 48v phantom power. As it could damage the microphone.
