Black Vintage 1980s BOMA Traditional Inuit / Eskimo Ice Fishing Figurative Sculpture, Made in Canada
Previously owned vintage figurine made in Canada, in excellent condition. No apparent cracks, repairs, nor chips (please see photos), was gently used, cleaned, and stored. May have a few tiny scuffs or other imperfections, particularly on figurine's bottom, consistent with its age and with gentle, normal display and storage. Lovely for gift-giving or for adding to your own personal collection.
Beautiful vintage 1980s circa figurine of an Inuit / Eskimo kneeling while ice fishing, is holding a thick string in both hands, one arm is outstretched, and the head of the captured fish is emerging from base with one end of string in its mouth (please see photos). The figures of the fisherman and fish have a smooth texture with a quality matte finish, base is oval shaped and is lightly textured to appear like ice. Lightly etched detailing on figurine's coat; focused, stoic expression on face (please see photos).
The figurine's original gold-foil oval label "FAIT AU CANADA BOMA MADE IN CANADA" is affixed to the base of the figurine, as are its original price tags (please see photos). No original box.
Materials used unknown. Some sources state that it is made of hand carved stone or carved soapstone, while others state that is made of quality ironwood or of black composite resin material.
The Boma company appears to no longer be in operation. While researching, discovered that this figurine is one in a series of several indigenous Inuit / Eskimo hunters or fishermen produced by the company.
Measures approx. 5 inches in height, base measures approx. 6 inches x 4 inches (please see photos). Clean with a duster or lightly dampened cloth.
