1829 Stampless Letter from Monticello Georgia to Connecticut – Legal Claim Dispute – Handwritten ALS

Original 1829 handwritten stampless folded letter sent from Monticello, Georgia to Hamilton, Connecticut, addressed to Mr. Abijah Catlin. Dated June 13, 1829, this ALS (autograph letter signed) discusses a legal or financial claim involving a Mr. Schuyler and Mr. S.B., assuring Catlin that steps are being taken to settle the matter fairly. The letter mentions a trip to Savannah and includes details of a previous correspondence and the resolution of a troubling dispute.

Front panel bears postmark "Monticello Ga. 14 June" and a "25" rate mark. Letter is signed by “H. Abernathy.” An excellent example of early 19th-century legal correspondence with postal history interest.
