The 20th anniversary issue of the magazine features Ritchie Blackmore on the cover, holding a message board that reads “Congratulations!” To mark the return of BLACKMORE'S NIGHT to Japan after seven years and the release of their first best-of album ALL FOR ONE, the editor-in-chief visited Ritchie's home on Long Island to conduct a three-and-a-half-hour interview with him and Candice Night. The entire interview is published uncut over 14 pages.

Following this are an interview with NEGATIVE, who returned to Japan for Summer Sonic, and a report on AEROSMITH’s Tokyo Dome concert. Despite Steven Tyler injuring his right knee during the Osaka show and having to cancel the Hiroshima date, the tour resumed safely in Nagoya.

The issue continues with a massive 53-page feature titled “Review and Reassessment: 1984–2004.” This section includes a year-by-year summary, a special dialogue between two experts, reevaluation of ten major events, handwritten messages from artists, unusual incidents in the hard rock and heavy metal world, past album review highlights, historical rankings from reader polls, a cover image ranking, two decades of rock fashion, and a selection of 100 essential HM/HR albums. A special bonus sticker set featuring artist logos was also included.

In the latter half of the issue, there are live reports and interviews from The Rock Odyssey 2004, which featured THE WHO (making their first visit to Japan), JOSH TODD, and others. It also includes coverage of Summer Sonic participants such as SILVERTIDE, along with EDGUY’s live performance and IMPELLITTERI’s show and interview.

Additional interviews spotlight new releases from ANGRA, VADER, BLAZE, Richie Kotzen, HAMMERFALL vocalist Joacim Cans, FORGOTTEN TALES, DEMONOID, SILENT SCYTHE, and WINTERSUN.

The news section is led by the announcement of QUEENSRYCHE’s sequel to OPERATION: MINDCRIME. Other notable stories include the anticipated New Year’s Day release of the reunited JUDAS PRIEST’s new album, METALLICA’s first official book, and a legal dispute where former MEGADETH bassist David Ellefson sued Dave Mustaine. Additional backstage tidbits from the Japan tours of AEROSMITH, EDGUY, ANGRA, and IMPELLITTERI are also shared.

Street snaps are now common in blogs and magazines worldwide, but did you know that this trend began with a Japanese person?

Thirty years ago, documentarian Shoichi Aoki began photographing stylish fashion on the streets, capturing organic trends rather than those created intentionally by magazines and famous brands. Shortly after, in 1986, he launched the world's first street snap magazine, "STREET."

In 1997, he founded the Harajuku street snap magazine "FRUiTS," which, like "STREET," was a fashion documentation magazine without ads or image retouching. This magazine helped bring Harajuku fashion to global prominence. In 2004, he launched "TUNE," a street snap magazine focused on men's fashion in Harajuku.

Today, these magazines have readers all over the world. One of them is Martin Margiela, the former designer for Hermès, who even asked Aoki to co-edit a special book.
