WHAT IS THE MM5A AND HOW DOES IT COMPARE TO OUR MM6B?

THE MM5A IS SIMILAR TO A CURRENT MM6B THAT HAS NO INTERNAL USER ADJUSTMENTS. THE MAIN VOLTAGE RAIL ON THE MM5A IS 65VDC WHEREAS IT IS 68VDC ON THE MM6B AND MP7B AND 70VDC ON THE MP8B. IT ALSO LACKS THE ABILITY TO OPERATE IN A BALANCED-OUTPUT MODE AS DO OUR HIGHER-END UNITS.

Q: HOW DOES IT SOUND COMPARED TO THE MM6B?

A: WE CAN'T QUANTIFY THE DIFFERENCE FOR YOU. But, since we don't advertise, the fact that we offer this for sale means that we think it represents a very high sonic value for the money.

Q: CAN I GET IT WITH A BLACK FRONT PANEL?

A: YES. Only black is avaiable on eBay at present time due to change in supply chain and adjustment to process

Q: CAN I GET IT WITH A MONO SWITCH?

A: NO. We did leave a space for it on the internal PCB but you would need to find a switch that fits and then drill the rear panel and move the GND lug. Damaging the unit itself while doing so will void the warranty, and we are not able to provide support.

Q: CAN I GET IT WITH UPGRADED JACKS?

A. NO. You might be able to replace them yourself; they are mounted separately from the PCB directly to the metal chassis. Damaging the unit itself will void the warranty, and we are not able to provide support.

Q: CAN I GET IT WITH A DIFFERENT COLOR LED?

A. NO. You might be able to change it yourself; white or red or yellow will be OK, but green will be very dim and would require finding and jumpering the SMT dropping resistor with a through-hole 1/4W or 1/2W resistor.

Q: CAN I GET IT WITH DIFFERENT LOAD RESISTANCE OR LOAD CAPACITANCE?

A: NO. The loading resistor is now a through-hole part, while the loading capacitor is SMT although both are fairly obvious based on the location. Damaging the unit itself will void the warranty and we are not able to provide support.
