Description

For auction is a 1966 game program and scoresheet from the former Washington Senators; the game was against the Cleveland Indians at RFK Stadium in Washington, and Cleveland won 7-6.

This Senators team, which was managed by Gil Hodges, included such stars as Frank Howard, Ed Brinkman, Ken McMullen, Dick Bosman, Joe Coleman, Pete Richert, Willie Kirkland and Don Blasingame.

The Cleveland squad, managed by Birdie Tebbetts, had Rocky Colavito, Jim Gentile, Del Crandell, Luis Tiant, Sam McDowell, Don McMahon, Dick Howser, Duke Sims, and Vic Davalillo.

Neither squad had a good season, Cleveland ending up in 5th place and Washington in 8th place; the league at that time had 10 teams.

This is a great old program, now over 45 years old. It includes team scorecards with player names and numbersbios, photos and statistics on several Senators players; the 1966 Senators schedule; a diagram of RFK Stadium with ticket prices (a box seat was $3.00); names and numbers of all American and National League pitchers; a detailed Washington roster with prior-year records for all players; a list of concession prices (beer was 45-cents, a hot dog 30-cents); information on the Senator's minor league system and scouting staff; a primer on how to score a baseball game; some great period advertising; more.

This program measures appx 11 x 8 1/2 inches and contains 28 pages. It is in very good condition. There are no rips or tears, and the binding is secure with all pages in place. The original owner scored the game (see 3rd and 4th scans), but there is no other writing. The cover shows some minor soiling.

These older Senator's programs are real collectors items, and someone will enjoy having this in his/her possessions.
