The cutting speed is a key parameter. For the different materials to be processed, the cutting speed must be adjusted accordingly. For example, when machining carbon steel, the cutting speed can generally be slightly lower than when machining aluminum alloys. If the cutting speed is too high, the cutting edge of the spiral drill is prone to increased wear and may even burn; If the cutting speed is too low, the efficiency of the machining is impaired.
The feed is also very important. If the feed rate is too large, the spiral drill bit can easily break; if the feed rate is too small, the surface quality of the hole deteriorates, and the machining efficiency is not high. In general, the feed rate depends on the diameter of the spiral drill and the type of material to be processed to determine the appropriate feed rate.
● Install and clamp spiral drills:
Make sure that the spiral drill is firmly seated in the drill chuck (e.g. table drill, vertical drill, etc.). If the installation is not firm, the spiral drill bit tends to oscillate during the drilling process, which not only affects the drilling accuracy, but can also cause the spiral drill to break.
● Cooling and lubrication:
Cooling and lubrication are required during the drilling process, especially when machining materials such as steel, as a lot of heat is generated during cutting.
