Original 1889 check from the Marion Savings Bank, Marion, Alabama, made out to Frank Thomas for $5.40. Beautiful green paper with period handwriting and ornate script signatures. Includes the original "Frank Thomas X mark" signature on the reverse, witnessed by T.W. Hudson. Stamped "PAID" with bank seal. A great piece of 19th-century Southern financial and banking history. Excellent for collectors of antique checks, Alabama history, and Civil War-era ephemera.
